Patna: Subhash Kumar from Aurangabad clinched gold in the 100-metre event at the Bihar State Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship, finishing with an impressive time of 11.17 seconds. His victory earned him the distinction of being the fastest runner in the competition. Ravikant Kumar of Gaya took silver with a time of 11.55 seconds, while Sartaj Ansari from the Eklavya Training Centre won bronze, clocking in at 11.72 seconds.
The second day of the four-day championship, organised by the District Administration, Patna, in collaboration with the Sports Department of Bihar and the Bihar State Sports Authority, saw Gaya athletes dominate the medal table, winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
At Monday’s track events held at Patliputra Sports Complex, the 3000-metre race saw Ranjan Raj of Vaishali secure the gold medal with a time of 8:49.37. Rohit Kumar of Gaya followed with a silver at 9:26.97, and Raj Sinha of Bhagalpur took the bronze with 9:34.53. In the 800-metre race, Rohit Kumar of Gaya triumphed again, winning gold with a time of 1:58.33. Nirmal Kumar of Bhagalpur claimed silver at 1:58.73, and Roshan Kumar of Gaya earned bronze with a time of 2:01.17.
In the high jump event, Atul Kumar from Siwan captured gold by clearing 1.68 metres, while Raju Kumar of Bhojpur and Rajkumar from Bhagalpur both cleared 1.65 metres to secure silver and bronze respectively.
The discus throw event was won by Devraj of Gaya, with Kumar Vishwajit Pal of Jamui taking silver and Viplo Pandey of Nalanda earning the bronze.
District Sports Officer Om Prakash presented medals and certificates to the winners, with several prominent figures in attendance, including Dhirendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Nirmal Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Manoj Kumar Singh, Manoj Kumar, Sudhanshu Ranjan, and Suraj Kumar.
