Bhagalpur: In a gruesome incident portion of face of a dead body kept in postmortem house of Munger sadar hospital was tore and eaten up by stray dogs last night. The incident pointing towards utter negligence of all concerned evoked serious protest of people today mostly family members and acquaintances of the dead person.
However district administration officials including police officials who intervened subsequently to tackle the situation succeeded in pacifying protesting people by assuring action against those responsible for lapses.
They also assured financial help to family of the dead person according to the provisions of government schemes. As per available information the person whose face was torn and eaten up by stray dogs in postmortem house was brought dead at Sadar hospital by some unknown people last evening.
The said people latter fled leaving the dead body at hospital. The matter was subsequently referred to local police by hospital administration. On being informed about the incident, efforts were initiated by police to establish identity of the dead person.
A picture of the dead person was circulated by police through social media in bid to locate his family members. After photograph of dead person was made viral through social media he could be identified as Md Anwar son of Md Idrish, a resident of Minnat Nagar locality of town.
Family members and neighbourhood people of deceased who reached hospital late night after they came to know about his death, were informed body of Md Anwar has been shifted to postmortem house and they could see the body next morning.
The deceased was identified this morning by his family members however they became agitated when they saw portion of his face was torn and eaten up. From blood stained foot marks found inside post mortem house it was assumed stray dog had torn and eaten portion of his face.
In order to substantiate it was an act of stray dog the people registering strong protest over the incident pointed out the face of deceased could be seen intact in his picture made viral for his identification. Meanwhile findings of preliminary police investigation suggest the deceased had died in road accident. The people who brought him dead to hospital and fled subsequently are yet to be traced.
