Stock broker found dead in Patna office, suicide suspected

Patna, August 1: A stock broker was found dead with bullet injury mark on his chest at his office in Buddha Police Station area here on Monday.

Police said the body of Basant Singh was found on a chair in his rented office in the basement of Sumati Place, a commercial complex on the busy Boring Road.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. A FSL team has recovered a suicide note from the spot. However, we are investing the case from all angles. The body has been sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for post-mortem examination,” a police officer said.

A country made pistol and some used cartridges were also found from there, the police said, adding that the incident could have taken place on Saturday as the body had started emanating strong foul smell.

“A tea-stall owner, who came to Singh’s office to serve tea at around 11:30 am found the doors open and the body lying on a chair. there were blood stains on the floor. The tea-stall owner immediately informed the Buddha Colony police. A police team reached the spot and started investigation,” the officer said.

Singh, a native of Sitab Diara in Saran district, was staying alone in Punaichak locality of Patna. His family members had been informed of the incident through Saran police, the officer added.
