Gaya: Yonex-Sunrise East Zone Inter-State Team and Individual Badminton Championhip-2024 will begin at Lord Buddha Badminton Academy (DPS Gaya Campus, Dubhal) on Wednesday. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will be the chief guest at the inaugural function.
Bihar Badminton Association president and former Bihar minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui will preside over the function. Ram Naresh Sharma, chairman, Magadh Educational Trust, Gaya will be the special guest at the inaugural function.
The tournament will be concluded on September 8.
Teams from Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand and hosts Bihar will participate in the championship.
The first two days of the championship will feature men’s and women’s team events, followed by individual competitions. In addition to the men’s and women’s teams, junior boys and girls from all the East Zone states will compete for top honours in team events, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.
Meanwhile, Bihar Badminton Association (BBA) has announced a 26-member team for the tournament. BBA secretary K N Jaiswal said that players have been selected on their performance in the camp and state ranking. The camp was held in Gaya from August 28 to September 3.
