Mysuru, August 7, 2024: The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India, along with Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC), Mysuru, today launched a new event, the Mysuru Open Hosted by Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club, which will be held at the picturesque JWGC from August 8 – 11, 2024. The total prize purse for the event is INR 1 crore.
The TATA Steel PGTI explores new territory with the inaugural Mysuru Open as the tour makes its debut in the city of Mysuru and at the esteemed JWGC. The tournament is supported by Host Venue JWGC and Associate Partner Cycle Pure Agarbattis.
The leading Indian professionals participating in the event include 2022 PGTI Order of Merit champion Manu Gandas, local lad Yashas Chandra, multiple international winner Rahil Gangjee, Olympian Udayan Mane, Aman Raj, Karan Pratap Singh, Sachin Baisoya, M Dharma, Abhinav Lohan and M Dharma, to name a few.
The prominent foreign names competing are Sri Lankans N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, Bangladeshis Jamal Hossain and Md Akbar Hossain, Italy’s Michele Ortolani, Czechia’s Stepan Danek, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Canada’s Sukhraj Singh Gill, South Korea’s Si In Kim, Japan’s Makoto Iwasaki and American Dominic Piccirillo.
Besides Yashas Chandra, the other prominent Mysuru-based professionals in the field are Aalaap I L, Dhruv Bopanna and Prafful Chand. The field also features leading Mysuru-based amateurs Veer Ganapathy, Varun Muthappa and Suraj Joshi.
