Patna, July 28: Around 2000 athletes from across the state have reached Patna to participate in the Bihar State Athletic Championships to be held at Patliputra Sports Complex here from July 29 to July 31. According to organizing committee preparations for this three-day mega event of the state have been completed.
Giving specific information about the championship at a Press conference here on Thursday, Sports Development Authority of Bihar director general Raveendran Sankaran said that athletes from the age grouo of U-14 to U-20 will participate in the championships.
Arrangements have been made for the players to accommodation at the Patliputra Sports Complex while the outdoor stadium is being decorated, he said.
He said immediately after this event a one month special training camp will be organised at Patliputra Sports Complex to prepare the state team for the next East Zone championships and National championships so that Bihar athletes can prove their mettle.
He said that the events of the championships will begin from morning. The inauguration ceremony will be held at 4 pm. Vinay Kumar, DG cum Managing Director, Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation) will be the chief guest at opening function.
He said that the players who could not register on the portal of Athletics Federation of India may register themselves at the venue.
