Patna, August 1: Sri Guru Gobind Singh High School Patna City drubbed St Michael’s High School 5-0 in the Patna District Subroto Mukerjee Cup football tournament at Patliputra Sports Complex ground here on Monday.
The tournament was organised under the aegis of Art, Culture and Youth Department, Bihar and Sports Development Authority of Bihar.
Mohd Hamza of Sri Guru Gobind Singh High School Patna City put his team on the lead by scoring the first goal in the 11th minute of the match. Both the teams made excellent moves in the first half but failed to convert into goals. In the second half of the match, Guru Gobind Singh High School Patna City continued to attack and in the 22nd, 25th, 26th and 36th minutes of the match, Mohd Hamza, Rakesh and Sujal scored goals to give their team a decisive 5-0 victory.
Earlier, Sri Guru Gobind Singh High School Patna City defeated DPS Patna 6-0 in the first semi-final and St Michael’s High School defeated Mount Litera School 4-0 in the second semi-final.
District Sports Officer, Patna-cum-Organising secretary, Om Prakash informed that the State Level School Subroto Mukerjee Cup Under -17 tournament will be held in Patna from August 6. Sri Guru Gobind Singh High School Patna City will represent Patna district.
Earlier, Raveendran Sankaran, Director General, Sports Development Authority of Bihar (SDAB) inaugurated tournament.
Ravi Shankar Kumar, Harendra Yadav, Mithlesh Kumar, Shashi Kumar Suman, Arun Hasda and Mohan Kumar were the referees for the tournament. Nand Kishor Prasad, former SAI instructor, Abhishek Kumar, trainer athletics, Mukesh Kumar Srivastava, Kiran Kumar Jha, Niraj Kumar, Surya Kant, Afzal Alam and Ramesh Kumar were present on the occasion.
