Bhagalpur: Unidentified criminals shot dead son of a well-known chemist and druggist here last night near his house located in Shani Mandir Lane in M P Dwivedi Road under Tatarpur PS in Bhagalpur. The victim identified as Raunak Kedia (26) is son of chemist and druggist Balram Kedia.
He was shot dead by criminals while he was returning home from their medicine shop also located in M P Dwivedi Road close to their residence. The victim who used to regularly visit Shani temple in his lane after closing shop, as usual was returning home from temple last night when he was shot from close range by unidentified criminals.
As per father of the victim, his son used to assist him in his business. Last night his son had left for home early from shop, Balram Kedia told media persons. Kedia informed after closing shop he had been to one of his friends shop last night.
He said while he was returning home, he saw someone lying in lane near his house. He asked staff of his shop who was accompanying him to see what is the matter, Kedia added.
Kedia said he could subsequently identify that it was his son who was lying in pool of blood in lane. Rushed to hospital, his son was declared dead by doctors at hospital, he informed.
Kedia said his son had enmity with none and he is unable to suspect involvement of anybody in the crime. It is stated FSL team in course of visit to the spot where victim was shot dead recovered six empty cartridges.
SSP Anand Kumar who also visited the place of occurrence told media persons that a special investing team has been constituted to nab the culprits. Prima facie it is a case of murder he said adding efforts are underway to ascertain motive of the crime. SSP added the culprits would be nabbed soon.
Meanwhile in protest against the murder chemists and druggists in M P Dwivedi Road of city where maximum number of medicine shops are located kept shutters of their shop down today. In some other areas in central part of city also the shops of chemists and druggists remained closed today.
Alleging the M P Dwivedi Road is frequented by anti-socials and criminals after dusk, the medicine shop owners have demanded ensuring their proper safety and security. They have also made demand for intensifying police patrolling in the area besides arrest of criminals and anti-socials active in the area.
