Softball coach and umpire training camp concludes

Patna: A five-day special training camp for coaches and umpires, organized by the Softball Association of Bihar, concluded on Wednesday at Patliputra Sports Complex here on Thursday. 

Coaches and umpires from 19 districts participated in this camp. Giving this information, joint secretary of the Softball Association of Bihar, Rupak Kumar said that about 82 people had attended the camp. 

They were given training on subjects like ground making, international rules, umpiring techniques etc. for five days. Later, an exam was conducted. The result will be released on August 9.  

Pankaj Raj, Director cum Secretary of Bihar State Sports Authority was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. While addressing the gathering, he said that coaches play an important role in taking forward any sport. Coaches also need training from time to time so that their knowledge is enhanced according to time.  

Association president Gautam Kanodia, chief patron Ajay Narayan Sharma, vice-president Pranav Kumar Pandey, Sanjay Kumar, Treasurer Pawan Kumar Pappu, Softball Association of India chief umpire Laxman Singh Gehlot, chief coach prasanna Kumar were present on the occasion. 

Joint secretary Rupak Kumar said that for the first time in Bihar, a seminar for coaches and umpires was organized in softball game. Bipin Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. Former secretary Madhu Sharma anchored the stage.
