Six Members of Barat Party Killed in a Major Road Accident in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur: Six persons were killed, and three others were grievously injured in a major road accident on Monday night near Amapur village in Ghogha on Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon stretch of NH-80.

The accident occurred when a stone chips loaded truck coming from opposite direction turned turtle and fell on a Scorpio vehicle carrying members of barat party. As per information all those killed in the accident were travelling in the vehicle on which the stone chips loaded truck fell.

Buried under weight of truck and stone chips the victims died inside the vehicle.  Three others who were also travelling in the vehicle sustained grievous injury in the accident.

The injured were sent to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital here for treatment after they could be rescued from the trapped vehicle. The condition of the injury is stated to be serious.

It is said accident occurred as driver of the truck coming from opposite direction suddenly lost control on the wheels. As per locals the driver lost control on the wheels after a front tyre of the truck flattened.

Apart from the vehicle on which the truck fell two other vehicles on which barat party members were travelling narrowly escaped accident. Following receipt of information about the accident, Ghogha police arrived at the spot last night and made arrangements for clearing the debris under which the vehicle carrying barat party was trapped.

The debris was cleared with help of a JCB machine that was being used in road construction at a distance from accident site. As per information provided to locals by members of barat party there were on way to Khidmatpur in Pirpainty block of this district from Gowadda village in Havveli  Kharagpur subdivision of Munger district.

Those killed in the accident have been identified as Pankaj Kumar Singh, Sanchit Kumar, Satyam Mandal, Abhishek Kumar, Borimal Das and Amit Das. Deplorable condition of Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon stretch of NH-80 is a contributory factor in rising number of road accidents, the locals say.
