Siwan Titans Clinch Inaugural Bihar Women’s Kabaddi League Title

Patna, June 16: The first Bihar Women’s Kabaddi League 2024 concluded on a high note on Sunday, marking a historic moment for Bihar sports as Siwan Titans emerged as the inaugural champions. In a thrilling final, Siwan Titans defeated Saran Strikers 27-20, with Saran Strikers finishing as the runners-up and Patna Pelicans securing the third position.

Earlier in the day, Saran Strikers secured their spot in the final by defeating Patna Pelicans 21-17 in the second semi-final. Preeti Kumari of Saran Strikers was named the best raider with 7 raid points, while Anjali Bharti of Patna Pelicans received the best defender award with 5 tackle points.

In addition to trophies and medals, the top three teams received cash prizes of Rs 1,51,000, Rs 75,000, and Rs 51,000 respectively. The best all-rounder was awarded Rs 15,000, and cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each were given to the best raider, best defender, best referee (Rana Ranjit Singh), and best coach (Neel Kamal).

Sundar Kumari of Magadh Warriors clinched the title of best raider with 91 points, while Anjali Kumari of Sitamarhi Sentinels was honored as the best defender with 48 tackle points. Nancy Priya of Nalanda Ninjas was adjudged the best all-rounder in the league.

In the final match held at Patliputra Sports Complex, Siwan Titans dominated proceedings, securing 13 raid points, 12 tackle points, and 2 all-out points. Saran Strikers managed 14 raid points and 6 tackle points, with 1 raid point coming from a super raid.

Siwan Titans led 16-10 at halftime, securing 8 raid points, 6 tackle points, and 2 all-out points in the first half. Saran Strikers managed 7 raid points and 3 tackle points in the same period, including 1 raid point from a super raid.

The awards ceremony, graced by Bihar Sports Minister Surendra Mehta and Director General cum CEO of Bihar State Sports Authority Raveendran Sankaran, highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting sports and fostering talent across the state.
