Patna, August 3: Siwan crushed West Champaran 5-2 to win the State-Level Subroto Mukerjee Cup U-17 School Football Tournament (Girls) at Patliputra Sports Complex ground here on Wednesday. The tournament was organised under the aegis of Art, Culture and Youth Department, Bihar and Bihar State Sports Authority to select a Bihar team for the Subroto Cup National tournament.
Lucky Kumari (jersey No10 ) put West Champaran in lead by scoring two consecutive goals in the 10th and 13th minutes of the match. After this Siwan made some good moves with small passes and two minutes before the interval Sonali Kumari (jersey No 8 ) scored a goal to make the tally 1-2 for Siwan.
In the second half of the match, both the teams showed impressive performance as several forays were seen from both sides. Nikki Kumari (41st and 57th minutes and Angel Kumar (59th and 57th minutes) scores two goals each and took Siwan to an impressive 5-2 victory over West Champaran.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Siwan defeated Muzaffarpur 6–0 and West Champaran defeated Munger 2–0 to enter the final.
Earlier, the director-cum-secretary, Bihar State Sports Authority, Pankaj Kumar Raj was introduced to the players. Later, after the match he gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up teams.
Patna district sports officer -cum-organising secretary Om Prakash and Rajendra Kumar, sports executive, Bihar State Sports Authority congratulated the winning team’s players for their excellent performance.
Ravi Shankar Kumar, Harendra Yadav, Mithlesh Kumar, Shashi Kumar Suman, Arun Hasda and Mohan Kumar played the role of referees in the tournament. On this occasion, Nand Kishore Prasad, former SAI instructor, Abhishek Kumar, Mukesh Kumar Srivastava, Surya Kant, Mohd. Afzal Alam, Kiran Kumar Jha, Niraj Kumar, and Ramesh Kumar and all deputed teachers and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
