Patna: Dr Parmeshwar Dayal Memorial Under-13 Inter School Cricket Tournament, held in honour of the former Vice Chancellor of Magadh University and eminent geographer, Dr Parmeshwar Dayal, was inaugurated on Monday at the Cricket Academy of Bihar (CAB) ground at Moinul Haque Stadium. Shriram Khel Maidan Academy claimed a convincing victory in the opening match of the tournament.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Bihar’s Education Minister, Sunil Kumar, alongside Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, Deputy Mayor Reshmi Chandravanshi, Bihar Players Association President Mrityunjay Tiwari, and Patna Municipal Corporation Empowered Committee member Indradeep Chandravanshi. The dignitaries marked the occasion by releasing balloons and meeting the players. Event organiser and captain of the Indian Youth Cricket Team, Amikar Dayal, welcomed the guests with bouquets, shawls, and mementoes. Santosh Tiwari, Founder and Organising Secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.
Several other dignitaries, including Naveen Kumar, General Secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, and Chandrakant Kumar, were also present. The event was conducted by renowned announcer Mrityunjay Jha.
In the match, Sardar Patel Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 112 runs for 6 wickets in 25 overs. Shriram Khel Maidan Academy, in response, easily chased down the total, scoring 114 runs for 1 wicket in 13.3 overs. Kanha was awarded Player of the Match by Ranji player Rajesh Rana. Umpires for the match were Rajesh Ranjan and Baijnath Prasad, with manual scoring by Ravi Kumar and online scoring by Rupesh Kumar.
