Bhagalpur: Postponement of university examinations due to shortage of
answer books could be something surprising. However, the reason has led to
deferment of two major examinations of three- year degree course namely
part one honours examination of session 2023 and part two subsidiary
examination of session 2022 in TM Bhagalpur University (TMBU).
One of the premier universities of Bihar, TMBU had to cancel both the
examinations till further order due to inadequate stock of answer books. The
part one honours examination of 2023 and part two subsidiary examination of
session 2022 were respectively scheduled to start from June 28 and June 14 in
university, as per available information.
Both the examinations were postponed till further order by university through
a notification issued yesterday. Both part one honours and part two subsidiary
examinations are among major university examinations. Taking together
roughly more than seventy thousand students were scheduled to appear in
part one honours and part two subsidiary examinations.
Nearly four lac answer books are required for conducting the examinations as
per assessment of university officials. The post of financial advisor presently
lying vacant in university, tender process for purchase of answer books could
not be initiated for purchase of answer books before examinations.
Dr Anand Jha, examination controller, TMBU confirmed in absence of financial
advisor and finance officer having limited operational power, technically
process of purchase of answer books involving expenditure between rupees 25
lakh to 30 lakh could not be initiated.
As per information the office of chancellor had been intimated by university
about technical problems in purchase of answer books in absence of financial
advisor and no other officials having adequate financial power for purchase of
answer books.
The postponement of examinations meanwhile is likely to delay sessions. The
plan of regularizing academic sessions in university could be adversely affected
as deferment of part one honours and part two subsidiary examinations is
likely to have cascading adverse effect on schedule of other examinations.
In the meantime, all is not bad in examination front including publication of
result in university. As per Dr Deepak Kumar Dinkar, Public Relation Officer
(PRO) of TMBU on conclusion BCA fourth semester examination yesterday the
result of examination was declared last evening. He said as part of university
effort to ensure timely publication of examination results, on directive of VC
Prof Jawahar Lal, the results of BCA fourth semester was published on day
examination concluded.
