Patna: A quick-fire century by Shashim Rathor (178 runs, 100 balls, 13 fours, 15 sixes) helped PESU register its second consecutive win in the Patna District Senior Division Cricket League oragisned by the PDCA ad-hoc committee at Urja Stadium here on Monday. PESU beat YMCC by 66 runs.
PESU’s Piyush Kumar Singh also struck 82 runs.
YMCC won the toss and invited PESU to bat first. Nikhilesh Ranjan and Piyush Kumar Singh started the innings but Nikhilesh fell to Suraj Arya for just 2 runs. Later, the pair of Piyush Kumar Singh and Shashim Rathore displayed fiery batting and took the team’s score to 334 for 8 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Piyush Kumar Singh scored 82 runs in 77 balls with the help of 7 fours and 3 sixes and Shashim Rathore scored 178 runs in 100 balls with the help of 13 fours and 15 sixes.
Chasing a target of 335 runs, YMCC scored 268 runs for five wickets in 40 overs. Ashish scored 50 runs in 46 balls with the help of 8 fours and Virat Pandey scored 57 runs in 63 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six and Suraj Kashyap scored 77 runs in 67 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Abhishek Kumar Jha took two wickets for 46 runs for PESU.
Shashim Rathore of PESU was adjudged man of the match.
