Patna: Saba Karim, former Indian cricketer and alumnus of YCC Sports Academy at Sakha Ground, Rajendra Nagar, inaugurated a significant initiative on Sunday to motivate the academy’s trainees. Karim introduced a scholarship award named after his parents, Syed Anwar Karim and Shahida Malik, and honoured four players for their outstanding performances.
The award ceremony took place at the academy’s ground, where Karim presented accolades to Bihar Under-23 cricket team vice-captain Suraj Kashyap, senior women’s team member Tejaswi, Under-19 team player Satyam Kumar, and emerging talent Ayushman. As the players were unavailable, their parents accepted the awards on their behalf.
In addition to trophies, Suraj Kashyap and Tejaswi received ₹15,000 each, while Satyam and Ayushman were awarded ₹10,000 each.
During the event, Saba Karim reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the academy and its players, stating, “I am fully prepared to assist this academy and its trainees in every possible way. I encourage you all to aim for awards by excelling in the upcoming season.”
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including international coach Adhikari MM Prasad, former Ranji player Ram Kumar, and social worker Ranjit Singh. Others present were Pramod Kumar, Ranveer Mehta, Mahendra Kumar Sinha, Sanjay Sinha Mantu, Mahfooz Kanwar, Rajvardhan Singh, Ayush Kumar, Gautam Bose, Vijay Krishna, Ajay Kumar, and Rajesh Sinha.
The event was coordinated by the academy’s head coach, Santosh Kumar, along with Rahul Kumar, while the proceedings were eloquently hosted by announcer Sandeep Patil.
