Bhagalpur: The railway users can look forward to state of the art world class amenities at station here in future. Taking into consideration Bhagalpur Junction is busiest station of Malda division in Eastern Railway, a redevelopment plan involving expenditure of Rs 481.60 crore has been prepared for creation of modern amenities and facilities for passengers.

A presentation on redevelopment plan was held at divisional headquarter on Thursday this week in meeting of senior officials chaired by Vikas Chaube, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). The presentation was held by Delhi based architect ARINEM Consultant PVT. Ltd involved in preparation of the redevelopment plan.

Different aspects concerning the plan were discussed by officials at length in the meeting. Certain specific suggestions concerning the redevelopment plan were given by officials following threadbare discussion on provisions of the plan.

Roopa Mondol, Public Relation Assistant (PSA), Malda division said speedy execution of the plan formed part of discussion held in the meeting. Sujit Kumar, ADRM and U P Singh, CPM besides officers of different branches were among participants in the meeting, PSA informed.

Barring the fact some suggestions concerning provisions of the plan were put forward in meeting, the redevelopment plan as per available information received approval of divisional authorities. If everything goes well decks could be clear soon for implementation of redevelopment plan.

As per provisions of redevelopment plan specious waiting areas having modern passenger facilities would be created. The 5256 square meter concourse area will have world class facilities and passenger amenities. Comfortable seating areas having capacity of accommodating total 1200 people consisting refreshment zones and other passenger amenities would be constructed.

User friendly signage’s and digital displays for providing all type of travel related information that could be easily understood by all passengers would be installed at station premises. There would be separate departure and arrival areas in station as per redevelopment plan. Connected with arrival areas construction of multi level car parking’s have been planned.

There would be interchange facilities for arriving/ departing passengers at second floor level. Construction of multilevel parking’s has been planned in both sides of station in order to connect both arrivals. The redevelopment plan included construction of separate foot over bridges to avoid overcrowding and also for segregating inward and outward passengers.
