Kolkata: RoundGlass Punjab FC (RGPFC) will take on Mohammedan Sporting Club in a heavyweight clash in a Round 13 fixture of the Hero I-League 2022 – 23 season which will be played tomorrow (22.01.2023) here at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan. RGPFC are unbeaten against Mohammedan SC in the history of I league. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 4:30 PM.
RGPFC will be aiming to get back to winning ways after they lost their last fixture against current table toppers Sreenidi Deccan. A win against Mohammedan will see RGPFC climb to the top of the table. Mohammedan SC will be confident at their own backyard and are currently unbeaten at home. They had beaten Kenkre FC at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai in their previous match.
“We are expecting a very tough game against a very good team and we hope that it will be an exciting match for the fans. We have to work according to our plans to get a positive result from the match and not think of previous results” said RGPFC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis during the pre-match press conference.
RGPFC defence have been playing in tandem during the whole season and they will have their task cut out against Mohammedan top scorer and Captain Marcus Joseph. Luka Majcen is the top scorer for RGPFC with 6 goals.
RGPFC defender Hmingthanmawia said during the pre – match press conference said, “We are expecting an exciting match tomorrow and we will look to execute the plans set forward by the coach”.
RoundGlass Punjab FC had beaten Mohammedan SC in the reverse leg 1-0 at Panchkula in November with Luka Majcen scoring the winning goal. RGPFC is currently second on the table with 23 points from 11 matches while Mohammedan SC is ninth in the table with 16 points from 12 matches.
