Mumbai: RoundGlass Punjab FC (RGPFC) will be aiming to consolidate their position in top of the table when they take on Mumbai Kenkre FC tomorrow (01.02.2023) in a Round 15 fixture of the Hero I – League 2022–23 season which will be played here at the Cooperage Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7 PM.
A win will see RGPFC take a four point lead ahead of their nearest rivals, Sreenidi Deccan. The team will be taking the field with confidence after winning their previous encounter against Real Kashmir FC. Kenkre FC had lost their previous match against Gokulam Kerala FC by a solitary goal at Kozhikode, Kerala.
“We have a plan on how to approach the game and like every game we will focus on securing the three points. We are playing against a difficult opponent who have been playing well and they will make it difficult for us in the match”, said RGPFC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis during the pre-match press conference.
RGPFC’s attack line have been in good form throughout the season with Luka Majcen and Juan Mera heading the attack line. Luka Majcen is currently the second top scorer in the league with 8 goals. RGPFC has also been good in defence and have the second best record in the league by conceding just 10 goals.
RGPFC forward Juan Mera said during the pre – match press conference said, “We have to be focused on the game completely and try to secure all three points and keep doing what we have been doing in this season.
RoundGlass Punjab FC had beaten Kenkre FC in the reverse leg 3-0 at Panchkula this month with Juan Mera scoring a double and Luka Majcen scoring the third goal. RGPFC is currently first on the table with 29 points from 13 matches while Kenkre FC is eleventh in the table with 13 points from 14 matches.
