New Delhi: RoundGlass Punjab FC (RGPFC) will be crowned I League champions if they win against Rajasthan United FC when they face them in a Round 21 fixture of the Hero I-League 2022-23 season which will be played here at the Ambedkar Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 PM. RGPFC will confirm the title in their name with one match remaining in the league.

RGPFC will want to finish the job at the national capital in their penultimate match of the season and avoid the pressure of the last match day. They will bank on their winning momentum after they had beaten Churchill Brothers 3 – 1 at home. Rajasthan United will also be confident after they upset Mohammedan Sporting in Kolkata, proving that every match in the league will be a tough game.

“Tomorrow is also going to be a tough game for us as the other matches because the league is competitive until the last match. We will have to present a good performance in order to obtain a positive result, said RGPFC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis during the pre-match press conference. On the pressure of being close to winning the title, the coach said, “My mentality will be the same as it was throughout the season, the game we are going to play will be the most important game of our lives and once that match is over the next match will be the same”.

The attack line of the team has been in fine form with Luka Majcen and Juan Mera making a lethal partnership scoring goals for fun. Luka has 13 goals while Juan Mera has 9 goals in the season occupying the second and third positions of the top goal scorers. The midfield and defence have also been in fine form complementing each other while both defending and attacking.

RGPFC midfielder Ajay Chhetri during the pre – match press conference said, “The atmosphere in the dressing room has been fantastic from day one and we expect it to be a tough match. We will give our best to secure all three points”.

RoundGlass Punjab FC were denied all three points by Rajasthan United FC through a last minute equaliser in the reverse fixture at Panchkula last year. RGPFC is currently first in the table with 46 points from 20 matches while Rajasthan United FC are seventh in the table with 25 points from 20 matches.
