Patna: The 21st Bihar State Sub Junior Boys and Girls Softball Championship began at Ramana Ground in Sonepur on Friday. This tournament was inaugurated by ward councilor Ajay Shah. Ajay Narayan Sharma was also present as the guest of honour.
In the inaugural match of the boys category, Rohtas defeated Muzaffarpur 5-4. The second match was played between Saran and Nalanda, in which Saran defeated Nalanda 10-5. In the third match, Siwan defeated Gaya 6-2. In the fourth match, Lakhisarai defeated Katihar 7-2 in a one-sided match. Later, Bhojpur beat Patna 13-3.
In the inaugural match of the girls’ category, the match between Patna and Saran was tied 7-7, while in the second match, the girls of Bhojpur overpowered the girls of Nalanda. Bhojpur’s girls team registered a 6-2 win over Nalanda.
Softball Association of Bihar president Gautam Kanodia said that 16 boys’ teams have been divided into four groups. The top team from each group will enter the semi-finals. In the girls category, the top two teams will enter the finals.
Softball Association of Bihar president Gautam Kanodia, Mohd Ali Gauhar (Shahi Dream Private Limited), Uday Kumar Yadav (secretary, Saran), joint secretary of Softball Association of Bihar Rupak Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Bipin Kumar, Triloki Raj, Rajesh Kumar Chintu, Ravindra Mohan and Saket were present on the occasion.
