Bhagalpur: With Ganga continuing to maintain rising trend since last few days quite a vast area of the Bhagalpur district has been inundated by the river. The situation remains particularly grim in the areas located in riverine belt.
While some trains have been cancelled the long-distance mail and express trains are being diverted through other routes. The vehicular movement on Mokama-Farakka National Highway (NH-80) has come to halt in Bhagalpur-Munger and Bhagalpur- Kahalgaon stretches with flood water flowing over the highway at certain points.
In adjoining Munger district also the flood caused by rising river has reportedly inundated vast area. The river as per information is continuing to maintain rising trend in its entire stretch passing through the state.
As per local administration, water of Ganga is expected to maintain steady level from tomorrow and subsequently start receding. It is largely felt flood situation in this district as well as adjoining districts could worsen if contrary to expectation there is no change in rising trend of the river in next twenty-four hours.
