Patna, July 22: About 20 research scholars from department of zoology of Jaya Prakash University Chapra on Thursday visited Gangetic Plains Regional Centre (GPRC) of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) under the instruction of professor Dr Rana Vikarm Singh, head of the zoology department on the university on Thursday to understand the research work undertaken by the GPRC.
Dr. Gopal Sharma, senior officer and scientist of Zoological Survey of India, GPRC Patna said that the purpose of this visit is to choose the appropriate topic of thesis for research, methodology as well as national and international level research papers. There was a special discussion on how to write articles etc. In this sequence, research methodology in which the selection of the topic, its method, analysis of data as well as how to avoid plagiarism was also discussed in detail.
He also told the research scholars that in order to write the thesis what are the things needed and how can we get it. On the occasion, the senior scientist of the institute, Dr. M. E. Hasan, scientist E explained the diversity of insects as well as their usefulness to us and discussed in detail on the topic. Manish Chandra Patel, the scientist of the institute, welcomed and thanked the visiting guests.
The research students visited various departments of the institute, in which they saw the collection of different types of animals kept in the animal museum and what is the utility of those animals in our ecosystem, it was specially told. The students visited the Insectaria Museum, in which a collection of insect moths of many ecosystems of Bihar and Jharkhand, along with the method of their collection and how to preserve these animals for a long time, were also demoed.
