Bhagalpur, Bihar, India: The regional response cum training centre of 9th battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) would be established here. The proposal for the establishment of a regional response centre here has received the approval of the disaster management department.
Total five acre vacant land of local polytechnic college has been identified by local administration for establishment of regional response centre. Taking note of the disaster management department’s directive, the additional collector here has been directed to complete the process of transferring identified land to NDRF, Bihita (Patna).
In light of directive of disaster management department process had been initiated last year for identifying suitable land for establishment of regional response centre of 9th battalion of NDRF. It was in August last year proposal for establishment of centre in vacant land of polytechnic was sent to disaster management department by District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen.
To cut down response time of NDRF in case of natural calamities and disaster in this region besides in adjoining regions establishment of regional response centre of NDRF has been planned here. A company of NDRF would permanently remain stationed at planned response cum training centre.
DM said following preparation of estimate, administrative approval has been already received for construction work of proposed regional response centre cum training centre. The construction work would involve an expenditure of more than ten crore rupees, as per estimates he said. DM added more efficient handling of emergency /disaster situations would be possible following establishment of regional response cum training centre here.
