Patna: Learning School of Cricket defeated Lakshya Cricket Academy by 44 runs in the opening match of the Randhir Verma Under-15 Cricket Championship at Sanjay Gandhi Stadium on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Learning School of Cricket scored 123 wickets in 17.3 overs. Aman scored 39 with the help of 7 fours, Priyanshu scored 25 runs with the help of five fours and Vineet scored 29 runs with the help of 6 fours. For Lakshya Cricket Academy, Harsh took five wickets giving away 8 runs. Anirudh took 2 wickets by giving away 10 runs and Nikunj and Saurabh bagged one wicket each.

In reply, Lakshya Cricket Academy could manage to score 79 runs in 18.02 overs. Satish scored 12 (4×1) and Priyanshu scored 11 runs for Learning School of Cricket. Saurabh took 5 wickets by giving 18 runs, Aditya took 2 wickets by giving 23 runs and Vineet got one wicket by giving away 5 runs for Learning School of Cricket. Saurabh of the winning team was awarded man of the match.

Earlier, former deputy chief minister of Bihar Renu Devi, Patna mayor Sita Sahu, deputy mayor Reshmi Chandravanshi and SIS general manager Neeraj Kumar Verma jointly inaugurated the tournament by releasing balloons in the air. Renu Devi also tried her hands with the bat to inaugurate the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Renu Devi said that martyr Randhir Verma was one of the most distinguished police officers of Bihar. Organising a cricket championship on his martyrdom day is a true tribute to him. She said Randhir Verma ji had a lot of love for the game and he himself was an IPS officer as well as a great cricketer.
Mayor of Patna Sita Sahu said that Randhir Verma Foundation has been providing a great platform to the budding players of Bihar on the martyrdom day of Randhir Verma. Deputy mayor of Patna Reshmi Chandravanshi said that this championship will provide a great platform to the young talented players of Bihar. Neeraj Kumar Verma, general manager of SIS said told the children to focus on sports along with studies.
BJP Sports Cell state convener joint secretary of Randhir Verma Foundation Satish Raju said that there is no dearth of talented players in Bihar, the aim of all of us is to improve their game by providing them proper platform, that’s why Randhir Verma Foundation is organising various sports on the martyrdom day of Randhir Verma.
