Punjab Football Club to face NortEast United in their first home game of the season

New Delhi: Punjab FC (PFC) will face NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) in their first home game of the Indian Super League 2023-24 season tomorrow which will be played here at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The third round match is scheduled to kick-off at 8 PM. PFC will look to bounce back from back to back losses in the previous two matches.

Punjab FC lost their previous match in a close encounter away from home against FC Goa by a solitary goal. The team will be looking to open their account in the league with a spirited performance against NEUFC who beat Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in their previous encounter.

PFC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis

Speaking ahead of the game, PFC Head Coach Staikos Vergetis said,” We are going to play our first home match tomorrow. We are very excited and hope to provide some good moments in the stadium. We promise to give a lot of happiness to our fans, to the people of Punjab and to our families. We have to take the home advantage tomorrow and try to find the first victory. We are expecting a very difficult game against NorthEast tomorrow and solidify our defence more effectively than the previous matches.

RGPFC midfielder Madih Talah during the pre – match press conference said, “The mood in the dressing room is good. Tomorrow we have to give our best at home and I request all the fans to come and support us and in return we promise to give our best on the field and make the fans happy”.

Punjab FC have zero points from two matches while NorthEast United have three points from the same number of matches.
