Patna: Punjab defeated Bihar by six wickets in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 clash at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Bihar, after opting to bat first, managed to post 113 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Punjab chased down the target with ease, reaching 114 runs for four wickets in just 9.4 overs to secure a comfortable victory and earn the full four points. Harpreet Brar’s stellar performance with the ball earned him the Player of the Match award.
Batting first, Bihar’s innings was steady but lacked significant contributions from the top order. Ayush Loharuka (15), Captain Sakibul Gani (27), and Sarman Nigrodh (16) were the main scorers, while Kumar Rajneesh (19*) and Himanshu Singh (20*) added crucial runs towards the end. Punjab’s bowlers dominated, with Harpreet Brar taking three wickets for 18 runs, Ramandeep Singh claiming two for six, and Baltej Singh adding one wicket for 23 runs.
Punjab’s chase was led by opener Prabhsimran Singh, who scored a quick 38, and Captain Abhishek Sharma, who contributed 33 runs. Anmolpreet Singh remained unbeaten on 14, guiding his team to victory. Bihar’s bowlers struggled to contain Punjab’s aggressive batting, with Nawaz Khan (2/24), Himanshu Singh (1/21), and Sachin Kumar Singh (1/12) sharing the wickets.
Bihar’s next match in the tournament is scheduled against Meghalaya on 27 November.
