Patna: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has made a big announcement for the people of Bihar on Friday. He pledged that if the Jan Suraaj government is formed in the state, five key schemes will be implemented immediately to propel Bihar into the ranks of the top 10 states in the country.
The primary aim of these initiatives is to curb youth migration, empower farmers and women economically, provide a respectable pension to the elderly, and enhance the education system. This announcement was shared with journalists earlier today.
Five Key Promises of the Jan Suraaj Government
- Halting Youth Migration
The Jan Suraaj government has guaranteed to completely stop the migration of young people by promoting local industries and trade. The government will ensure employment opportunities offering monthly incomes of ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 at the local level.
2. Monthly Pension of ₹2000 for the Elderly
Currently, the Bihar government provides a pension of ₹400 to citizens aged 60 and above. The Jan Suraaj government will increase this amount to ₹2000 per month, effective from December 2025.
3. Better Income for Farmers Through Farming
MNREGA will be integrated with agriculture to support farmers. Under this scheme, labourers will be provided to farmers at no cost, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and income.
4. Affordable Loans for Women
Women will have access to bank loans with government guarantees for self-employment. While loans under the Jeevika scheme currently come with high interest rates, the Jan Suraaj government will offer loans at a reduced annual interest rate of just 4%.
5. World-Class Education for Children
The Jan Suraaj government will not only improve the condition of government schools but also ensure that children from economically disadvantaged families can attend private schools if government schools fail to provide quality education. The government will cover their tuition fees.
Prashant Kishor emphasised that these promises will be prioritised immediately after the formation of the Jan Suraaj government, with the goal of transforming Bihar into a developed and self-reliant state.
