Police Academy Patna off to a winning start in Bihar Senior Ball Badminton

Patna: Ramdevan Rai-Dilip Rai Memorial 29th Bihar State Senior Ball Badminton Championship began at Kushwaha Ashram in Hajipur on Wednesday. The tournament is being organised by Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association under the aegis of Bihar State Ball Badminton Association.

Police Academy Patna defeated Saran 35-14,35-35-17 to start their the victory campaign. In this match, Prashant Raj, Santu Maharaj, Rahul, Monu, Kundan from Police Academy and Abhiraj, Sajid, Bipul from Saran’s side performed brilliantly.

In the first match of the women’s category, hosts Vaishali started the victory campaign by defeating Siwan by 35-23,35-28. In this match, international players Priya Singh, Vandana Kumari, Kavita, Priyanka, Muskaan from Vaishali and Priya, Geeta, Kajal from Siwan performed well.

Earlier, the three-day state championship was jointly inaugurated by the Bihar Minister of Art, Culture and Youth Department Jitendra Rai, Bihar Industry Minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth and former Bihar Sports Minister Shivchandra Ram by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the players and sports lovers, Minister Jitendra Rai said that the state government will provide all facilities to the players of ball badminton like other sports. Bihar Industries Minister-cum-senior vice-president of Bihar Ball Badminton Association Samir Kumar Mahaseth said that the state association conducts programmes every year according to its calendar.  He also placed a proposal to organise the 68th Junior National Ball Badminton Championship (Boys and Girls) in Patna for the session-2023 before the Sports Minister.

The guests were welcomed by the President of Grappling Wrestling Committee of Bihar, Kishlay Kishore and Secretary of the Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association Ravi Ranjan Kumar. Gouri Shankar, Secretary of the Bihar State Ball Badminton Association proposed a vote of thanks.

Results:

Men’s category – Siwan beat Darbhanga 35-23,34-36,35-30, Patna beat Saran 35-30,35-19, Naugachia beat Vaishali 35-26,35-21.

Women’s category:- Darbhanga defeated Naugachia 35-27, Begusarai defeated East Champaran 35-17,35-15, Police Academy defeated Patna 35-15,35-22.
