PKL Season 9: UP Yoddhas lose to Delhi Dabang KC 42-44 in a thrilling match

Bengaluru: UP Yoddhas – the GMR group owned franchisee, faced a heartbreak today losing to Defending Champions Dabang Delhi KC by just two points in Bengaluru. UP Yoddhas playing their third game of the 9th Pro Kabaddi League lost 42-44 to Dabang Delhi KC, however Surender Gill’s heroic effort of 21 raid points impressed everyone. Surender Gill also won the Perfect Player of the Match award. Pardeep Narwal earned another 7 raid points for UP Yoddhas while Ashu Singh and Captain Nitesh Kumar earned 4 and 3 tackle points respectively. UP Yoddhas are now placed fifth on the points table with Seven points from three games.

Surender Gill shines earning 21 tackle points for UP Yoddhas

UP Yoddhas now face fourth placed Bengaluru Bulls on October 16 2022 at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bengaluru. The match will be broadcast LIVE & Exclusive on Star Sports Network and LIVE streamed on Disney Hotstar 8:30 PM onwards.

The game began with UP Yoddhas drawing first blood through Surender Gill. Dabang Delhi KC immediately struck back through Manjeet to even out the score, which was followed by them ousting Pardeep Narwal as the scoreboard read 1-2 with UP Yoddhas trailing by a point. However UP Yoddhas thereafter raced ahead with continuous points through successful raids and tackles with the scorecard reading 8-2 to their favour. With more than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, UP Yoddhas inflicted the first All-Out on Dabang Delhi KC to take the score lead to 11-4.  UP Yoddhas however did not stop after this and soon inflicted a second All-Out on Dabang Delhi KC to take a massive lead of 21-11. Dabang Delhi KC however tried making a comeback in the final few minutes of the first half, but their efforts couldn’t help them manage the deficit, while Surender Gill of UP Yoddhas completed his Super 10. The first half came to an end with the scoreboard reading 25-19 to UP Yoddhas favour.

The second half started with UP Yoddhas and Surender Gill maintaining their momentum. UP Yoddhas raced their way to take a massive 32-22 lead with Gill scoring at his will. However, Dabang Delhi KC finally started making a comeback inflicting the first All-Out on UP Yoddhas early on in the first half, reducing their deficit marginally. The scoreboard at this moment read 33-26 to UP Yoddhas favour. Thereafter while Pardeep Narwal earned a couple of points for UP Yoddhas, Dabang Delhi KC slowly crawled their way up to not only inflict the second All Out  on the former and also take the lead in this game for the first time. The scoreboard now read 36-37 to Dabang Delhi KC’s favour. The game thereafter was a neck-to-neck battle between both the teams, with Surender Gill earning 21 points in total for UP Yoddhas. The final moments of the game however saw Dabang Delhi KC walkaway with a marginal 2 point win over UP Yoddhas, as the scoreboard read 42-44 to the Defending Champion’s favour.
