Physical education teachers play important role in picking talent at school level: Sanjay Kumar

Patna July 26: The sixth and final batch of the training programme for physical education teachers of Bihar on Yoga and Sports began at Patliuptra Sports Complex here on Monday. The group-wise training programme had started from July 7 and would continue till July 27.

About 300 physical education teachers from across Bihar have been participating. The programme is being conducted by Bihar Education Project Council in collaboration with UNICEF. On Monday, Sanjay Kumar, deputy director of sports department and Dr Karunesh Kumar, director of sports, IIT Patna joined encouraged the trainees.

Addressing the trainees of the sixth batch, Sanjay Kumar said that till date, the most important role of physical education teachers is identifying and nurturing the talent of all sports from school level. It will bring a sea change in the state sports at national and international level, he added.

Dr Karunesh Kumar said that the importance of physical education can be gauged from this that sports and physical education have been given an important place in the premium institutes of the country. Physical education and sports play an important role in reducing the stress of life along with the education of children and youth.

Instructor of the training programme, Abhishek Kumar, a NIS athletics coach cum physical education teacher of Bapu Smarak Mahila High School conducted the programme and welcomed the guests.

50 physical education teachers from secondary and higher secondary schools of Buxar, Samastipur, Sheikhpura, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, West Champaran districts are participating in the training of the sixth and final batch.

UNICEF consultants Dharamveer Kumar, Nishant Kumar, trainers W Kumar and Mrityunjay Kumar, Neeraj Kumar were also present on the occasion.
