Patna to host Junior National Boys Boxing from December 17

Patna:  Under the banner of Boxing Federation of India, preparations were on in full swing for the 4th Junior National Boys Boxing Championship to be hosted by the Boxing Association of Bihar at Patliputra Sports Complex here from December 17 to 22.

Talking to the scribes, Organising Chairman- cum-former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad said that teams from 34 states and union territories would participate in this six-day championship. Along with this, teams from Services Sports Control Board and Steel Plant Sports Board will also participate.

A total of 400 players and 100 coaches/managers will come to participate in the championships. Apart from all these, about 40 technical officials of Boxing Federation of India will come to supervise this championship, he said

Tarkishore Prasad said that arrangements for the accommodation and food of the players have been made at the Patliputra Sports Complex. He said that before this National championship, Boxing Association of Bihar had organised a successful championship in 2009.

Boxing Federation of India’s vice-president cum technical delegate head Narendra Kumar Nirvana, who arrived here for the successful conduct of this championship, said that we congratulate all the office bearers of the Boxing Association of Bihar for taking the responsibility of hosting this championship. He said that on the basis of performance in this championship, India team will be selected which will participate in international competition.

Kumar Vijay, secretary of Bihar State Kabaddi Association said that this event is a matter of pride for the whole of Bihar and all of us together will make it a success. He said that not only the event will be better but the boxers of Bihar will also do better.

Boxing Association of Bihar Secretary Rajeev Kumar Singh said that in the interest of the future of the boxers of entire country, we took the responsibility to host this event at the last moment. Due to Covid pandemic, the age group championship could not be organised in the last two years. In such a situation, the players of the age group were deprived of showing their talent, he said.

He said that Boxing Association of Bihar stepped forward and took the responsibility of hosting it. “Bihar will not only host better but the players will also do better. We are thankful to the Bihar government for providing special training facilities to the players participating in this championship in Sonipat. Om Prakash Singh (Pappu), Vice President of Boxing Association of Bihar was also present during the Press conference.
