Patna Storm into Final with 142-Run Win over Araria in Randhir Verma U-19 Trophy

Patna: Patna secured their place in the final of the Randhir Verma Under-19 One Day Trophy 2024-25, organised by the Bihar Cricket Association, with a commanding 142-run victory over Araria in the semi-final. The match was played at the Moinul Haq Stadium, where Patna, after losing the toss, put up a strong performance with the bat and followed it up with disciplined bowling.

Batting first, Patna posted a formidable total of 345 runs in 46.3 overs, losing all their wickets. The standout performance came from Yash Pratap Yadav, who played a blistering knock of 130 runs off just 91 balls, hitting 15 fours and 5 sixes. Other notable contributions included Saurabh Dadan Tiwari (49), Vikas Vinay Krishna (43), Utkarsh Dheeraj Kumar (38), and Ayush (32). Captain Prakhar Pradeep Gyan and Augustya Abhishek Anand chipped in with 12 and 10 runs, respectively.

In Araria’s bowling department, Aman Sanjay Raj claimed 2 wickets for 69 runs in 10 overs, Shivam Kumar Jha took 2 wickets for 42 runs in 7 overs (including 1 maiden), Ujjwal Raj bagged 2 wickets for 34 runs in 5 overs, Akshay Kumar Vishwas picked up 2 wickets for 99 runs in 10 overs, and Rakesh Kumar Singh took 1 wicket for 5 runs in 1.3 overs.

Chasing a target of 346, Araria’s innings folded for 203 runs in 39 overs. Aman Sanjay Raj top-scored with 53 runs. Captain Adarsh Vivek Singh and Akshay Kumar Vishwas contributed 30 runs each, while Shivam Amarendra Kumar scored 31 and Tanmay Ritesh Kashyap remained unbeaten on 19.

For Patna, Shashwat Jeet Raj took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 2 overs, Satyam Kundan Kumar picked up 2 wickets for 35 runs in 9 overs (including 1 maiden), Utkarsh Dheeraj Kumar took 3 wickets for 40 runs in 8 overs (1 maiden), Ayush grabbed 1 wicket for 27 runs in 7 overs, and Augustya claimed 2 wickets for 23 runs in 5 overs.

With this comprehensive win, Patna advanced to the final of the Randhir Verma Under-19 Trophy. The second semi-final will be played tomorrow, 24 May, at Moinul Haq Stadium between Bhojpur and Jamui. The winner will face Patna in the final.
