Patna: Banaras XI defeated Patna XI by 4-1 in the exhibition football match organised under the aegis of Patna Football Association on the occasion of Independence Day at Veer Kunwar Singh Park football ground here on Tuesday.
Former Mayor of Patna Shyam Babu Rai, Vidya Bhushan Singh of Energy Yoga inaugurated. They were also introduced to the players.
In the sixth minute of the game, Arif Khan put Patna on lead but after that Banaras players displayed attacking game. Himanshu Rai equalized the lead in the 34th minute of the game. The match remained tied at 1-1 till the first half.
In the second half, Radhe Raman (67th), Rain Shakti Yadav (79th) and Amit Yadav scored in the 80th minute to help Banaras XI win the match by 4-1 margin. Yashraj Thapa of Banaras XI, who became the player of the match, was given a cash prize of Rs.2500/- by Praveen Kumar of Patna Warriors. The referees of the match were Shashi Kumar Suman, Mohan Kumar, Abhay Kumar and Amarjeet Kumar.
After the end of the match, the players were awarded by Bihar Football Association Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain, former Mayor Shyam Babu Rai, Patna Football Association President Ramishwar Prasad, Treasurer Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Vice President Shyam Babu Yadav. Patna Football Association secretary Manoj Kumar welcomed everyone by presenting them bouquets and mementos.
Syed Imtiaz Hussain, secretary of Bihar Football Association, sports journalists Ishauddin and Amarnath Prasad were specially honoured on this occasion. Many dignitaries including Patna Football Association’s Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Raj Milk’s Satyendra Kumar, Bihar Football Association’s HRO Satyendra Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Chittaranjan Sharma, Coach Santosh Kumar Singh were present on the occasion.
