Patna Dominates Bihar State Inter-District School Girls Athletics Championship

Patna: In the Bihar State Inter-District School Girls Athletics Championship, the Patna team claimed the top spot on the medal table with an impressive haul of 5 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals, totalling 16. West Champaran followed in second place with 5 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, amounting to 8 in total. The Siwan team secured the third position with 5 gold and 2 bronze medals, while Gaya took fourth place with 4 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

On the second day of the championship, held at the Patliputra Sports Complex and organised by the District Administration, Patna, in collaboration with the Sports Department of Bihar and the Bihar State Sports Authority, Patna’s Nidhi emerged as the track queen. She won the gold medal in the 400-metre race in the under-19 category. The silver in this event was claimed by Komal Kumari of Banka, and the bronze by Amisha Kumari of Nalanda. Additionally, Simran Kumari of Patna earned the title of Iron Girl after clinching the gold medal in the shot put event for under-19 girls. Neha Kumari of Muzaffarpur took silver, while Sonam Kumari of Buxar won bronze in this category.

Medals and certificates were distributed to the winners of Thursday’s competitions by Om Prakash, District Sports Officer of Patna and Organising Secretary. Several dignitaries, including Nirmal Kumar, Haroon Ansari, Sudarshan Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Kiran Kumar Jha, Deepak Kumar, and Dhirendra Paswan, were in attendance.
