Patna: Patna emerged victorious, claiming the overall title at the fourth Bihar State Cadet, Sub Junior, Junior, and Senior Grappling Wrestling Championship, held on Sunday at Radhakrishna Mandir, Barh, Patna. The event was organised under the aegis of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association. East Champaran secured second place, while Vaishali finished third.
In the decisive final matches, Juleshwar Kumar from Patna defeated Amit Kumar of Darbhanga, securing a 6-4 victory in the boys’ 58 kg weight category. Saurabh Kumar of Patna outperformed Vikas from East Champaran, winning 7-5 in the 50 kg weight category. Sunny Kumar of Patna also triumphed, defeating Manish Kumar of Saran with a score of 5-3.
In the women’s 50 kg category, national wrestler Aanchal Kushwaha of Patna claimed victory over Roshni Kumari of Saran with a 6-4 point win. Priyanka Kumari of Patna clinched the gold medal after defeating Ashika Kumari of Vaishali by 8-6 points.
Following the final matches, a prize distribution ceremony was held, with medals presented to the winners by the event’s organising president and social worker, Karnaveer Singh Yadav, also known as Lallu Mukhiya. He was joined by retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Dasrath Pehlwan, Jagan Pehlwan, Vice President of the District Association Ramanuj Singh Pehlwan, PACS President Satyendra Yadav, Lalan Yadav, and Advocate Naval Yadav. The event was also graced by the presence of Gouri Shankar, General Secretary of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association; Satish Kumar, District Association Secretary; Deepak Singh Kashyap, Technical Director; Vinod Kumar Jaiswal, Ranveer Yadav, Manish Kumar Singh, Technical Officer Ravish Kumar, Vireish Kumar, Vinod Kumar Dhoni, Randhir Kumar, and numerous sports enthusiasts.
