Panchsheel boys, Kilkari girls clinch Dhyan Chnad ball badminton titles

Patna: Panchsheel Higher Secondary School defeated Kilkari 35-30, 32-35, 35 -32 to win the boys’ title while the Kilkari beat Kedarnath Girls School 35-28, 35-25 to win the girls title of the Dhyan Chand ball badminton tournament here on Saturday.

In the boys’ final, Shivam, Rahul, Ankit, Nitish, Suraj performed well for Panchsheel Higher Secondary School and Aditya, Rahul, Nivesh, Prince played well from Kilkari. In the girls’ final Khushi, Sushma, Pooja, Pinky, Muskan dished out good performance for Kilkari while Isha, Chandni, Roshni, Chanda played well for Kedarnath Girls School.

Earlier, in the semi-finals of boys’ category, Panchsheel Higher Secondary School defeated Mahant Hanuman Sharan Vidyalaya and Kilkari Senior beat its Junior counterpart. In the semi-finals of girls’ category, Kilkari defeated Mahant Hanuman Sharan Vidyalaya and Kedarnath Girls School defeated RK Bharti Middle School.

The award for the best promoting team of the competition was given to the girl team of DRPSPM Bihar Vidyapeeth. The award for the best player of the competition in the boys’ category was given to Shivam Kumar of Panchsheel Vidyalaya and in the girls’ category, Kilkari’s Muskan bagged the honours. In the boys’ category of the competition, the award for the upcoming player went to Shubham Nivesh (Kilkari), Shubham (Mahant Hanuman Sharan Vidyalaya), Ajay (Government Boys School Rajendra Nagar), Suraj Kumar (GD Pataliputra), Rajneesh (U.M. Vidyalaya Marchi). In the girls’ category, the upcoming player award went to Chandni (Kedarnath Girls School), Khushi (Bharti Middle School), Muskan (Mahant Hanuman Sharan Vidyalaya), Ankita (DRPSPM Bihar Vidyapeeth), Komal and Simran (U.M. Vidyalaya Marchi).

Bihar Government’s Industries Minister-cum- Senior Vice President of Bihar State Ball Badminton Association Samir Kumar Mahaseth, who was the chief guest at the closing function, gave away the prizes to winners and runners up teams. Prof. O.P. Rai, Principal of LS College, Muzaffarpur, Kilkari. Director Jyoti Parihar, President of Bihar Players Association Mrityunjay Tiwari, Vice President of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association Mithilesh Kumar Mandal, Principal of Srichandra Vidyalaya Dr. Faiz Ahmed also gave away the other prizes.
