Patna: Om XI defeated Sporting FC 3-2 in the Rekha Devi Memorial Patna District Junior Division Football League being played under the aegis of Patna Football Association on Friday. The first half was goalless but it rained goals in the second half.
In the second half, there was a lot of effort between the players of both the teams to take the lead by scoring a goal. Om XI’s Vishnu Kumar gave the team the lead in the 49th minute of the game by scoring a goal. Four minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Hanni Kumar scored a goal to bring Sporting FC on par. Just two minutes later, Azad Murm scored a goal for Om XI to give the team a 2-1 lead.
Later, the players of Sporting FC started attacking the opposition goalpost and in the 65th minute of the game Bablu Kumar of Sporting FC succeeded in scoring the goal and the match once again came on par. The game was moving towards its final stage. Ranjit Kumar scored a goal in the 70th minute to give Om XI a 3-2 lead which they held till the end. The players of Sporting XI tried their best to equalise and take the lead but in vain.
Former footballer Manohar Rai presented the player of the match award to Azad Murm of Om XI. The referees for today’s match were Shubham Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Vinod Prasad and Gaurav Raj.
