Odisha, Manpiur, Jharkhabnd boys register wins in East Zone Sub Junior Hockey

  • Manipur Hockey and Hockey Association of Odisha won in Sub Junior Women’s category matches

Ranchi: Manipur Hockey and Hockey Association of Odisha registered victories in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category, while Hockey Association of Odisha, Manipur Hockey, and Hockey Jharkhand also won their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category on the fifth day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2023 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The first match of the day saw Manipur Hockey beat Assam Hockey 15-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goal scorers for Manipur Hockey were Bidyaluxmi Devi Hudrom (2’, 29’, 37’, 60’), Seram Henthoi Chanu (5’, 47’, 47’, 47’), Captain Prinja Devi Moirangthem (9’, 10’, 34’), Meikam Surviya Devi (10’), Jerina Chongtham (26’), and Devi Haobijam Silky (50’, 58’).

The second match saw Hockey Association of Odisha beat Hockey Jharkhand by 2-1 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Hockey Association of Odisha took an early lead through Anjana Xaxa (1’) and Supriya (32’) scored from a penalty corner to double the lead. Meanwhile, Aind Neha (49’) scored the only goal for Hockey Jharkhand.

In the third match Hockey Association of Odisha defeated Hockey Bihar by 14-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Dadel Jaystanley (3’, 5’, 11’, 17’) opened the account for Hockey Association of Odisha, followed by goals from Lakra Salman (21’), Barla Sujit (22’, 26’, 45’, 59’), Lakra Ashish (36’), Xaxa Sandeep (40’), Kerketta Mandeep (50’), Bidyananda Singh Yumkham (54’), and Lakra Aklesh (60’).

The fourth match saw Manipur Hockey beat Assam Hockey by 7-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Captain Sushil Lisham (44’, 51’, 60’) spearheaded the goal-scoring efforts for Manipur Hockey with a hat-trick while, Kshetrimayum Borish Singh (12’), Singh Ningombam Ronin (20’), Lanthoiba Okram (27’), and Lisham Max Singh (53’) pitched in with goals of their own.

The last match of the day saw Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Bengal by 9-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Goals from Patras Hassa (15’, 31’), Purti Ashish (19’, 19’, 51’), Hemrom Tintus (27’, 43’), Bhengra Gledshan (28’), and Horo Salan (60’) ensured Hockey Jharkhand walked away with three points from the game.
