Patna: The crucial meeting of the Nitish Cabinet, which commenced at 4 pm on Tuesday in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, has concluded. Ministers from all departments were present at the meeting, during which the Bihar government set a new record by approving 136 agendas simultaneously, a first in the state’s history. An allocation of ₹20,000 crore has been sanctioned for these initiatives.

A significant portion of the approvals relates to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra, during which he is visiting districts and announcing various development projects. In Tuesday’s meeting, proposals linked to these announcements were sanctioned, including the construction of new bus stands in Darbhanga and Purnia and an ₹90.27 crore development project for Sindheshwar Sthan Temple in Madhepura.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Department, Dr S Siddharth, stated that several major projects have been approved, including:

  • Water drainage system in Hajipur to address waterlogging issues.
  • Renovation of Gangasagar and Dighi lakes in Darbhanga district.
  • Construction of a new bus stand in Darbhanga, with an estimated cost of ₹83 crore.
  • An interstate bus terminal in Purnia, for which ₹56 crore has been allocated.

Of the 136 sanctioned agendas, 82 are directly related to the Pragati Yatra, fulfilling the promises made by the Chief Minister. The Road Construction Department saw the highest number of approvals, with 41 projects sanctioned, followed by the Water Resources Department, which received 12 approvals.

These developments come just ahead of the elections, marking a significant push by the Bihar government towards infrastructure and public welfare projects.
