Nilesh Kumar wins Ambedkar Prize Money Chess title

Patna: Nilesh Kumar, an international FIDE rated player won the 37th Ambedkar Open Prize Money Chess Championship title in the above 19 years age category at Patna Youth Hostel hall here on Monday.

Bihar government official Shivam Shankar presented Nilesh the  cash award of Rs 10000 and a trophy.

Piyush, a FIDE rated player finished runner up. He was awarded Rs 5000 cash prize and a trophy by Prem Ranjan General Secretary, Bihar Public School and Children Welfare Association.

All the FIDE rated players who finished third, fourth and fifth were awarded Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively by Pawan Kumar, former Ranji cricketer cum senior coach of the Bihar cricket team. Giving this information, Ambedkar Khel Vihar Secretary JK Das said that Vijay Kumar, who got the highest rating in the competition, had to be satisfied with the fourth position. Bihar’s senior chess coach Vipal Subhashi was also present on the occasion. Virendra Kumar Upadhyay played the role of chief arbiter.

Das further said that AR Khan Memorial Open Prize Money Chess Tournament will be organised from April 25 to 27 at Patna Youth Hostel. The Greater Noida Educational Institution (GNIOT) will sponsor the tournament to be held from 5pm to 8 pm.

According to Das, players interested in participating in the AR Khan Open Prize Money Chess Tournament can send their entries online till April 22.
