Bhagalpur: Little known Asrafnagar village in Sakrama panchayat under Sanhoula police station of district is in news presently for an altogether different reason. Physical assault of dead bodies in graveyard has brought the village in limelight.
In last few days of current week, it was found two dead bodies in village graveyard were physically assaulted digging the graves of the dead bodies. In fact, mystery shrouds physical assault of the dead bodies.
On Wednesday this week, it was found dead body of a woman identified as Biwi Noorjabi Khatoon mother of Badiujjama of village Asrafnagar was beheaded in graveyard digging her grave. Followed by the incident, on Friday this week it was found dead body of a newly born child was brutally mutilated accessing dead body in grave.
In the first incident woman whose dead body was beheaded was reportedly buried in graveyard following her death in August last year. The newly born child whose body was mutilated as per information was buried in graveyard few days back. The lower portion of body of newly born child as per media reports was found missing in grave.
Though reason behind physical assault of buried dead bodies is not clear however people of the village doubt the buried dead bodies are being accessed with intention of smuggling human body parts. It also doubted with foul purpose of seeking human parts used in practicing sorcery the bodies buried in graveyard are being accessed.
Md Ejaz, former member of Sakrama panchayat said the recent incidents of physical assault of dead bodies are not isolated incidents. In the past also similar incidents of beheading of dead bodies buried in graveyard had come to light, he informed.
Altogether five such incidents have been reported so far since 2021, former panchayat member said. He suspected people involved in smuggling human body parts could be involved in physical assault of dead bodies.
Meanwhile the recent incidents of physical assault of dead bodies have been brought to notice of police. As per information for investigation SDPO, Kahalgaon visited the village yesterday after it came to light recently buried dead body of a newly born child was mutilated in graveyard.
