Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur beat Patna 2-0 to win the Takshashila 13th Hockey Bihar Sub-Junior Men’s State Level Championship title at Khudi Ram Bose Stadium in Muzaffarpur on Thursday.
Muzaffarpur team was ahead 1-0 in the first half. Akash Yadav scored the first goal in the 18th minute off Alok Kumar Singh’s pass. In the 23rd minute, Patna got their first penalty corner, in which Muzaffarpur goalkeeper Vivek Vishwakarma brilliantly saved Patna’s Ranjan Kumar’s hit.
In the 51st minute of the game, Subhit Raj Tiwari scored the second goal off Ajay Kushwaha’s pass as Muzaffarpur took decisive 2-0 lead. Muzaffarpur got 4 and Patna got 2 penalty corners. Two players of Muzaffarpur got green card.
Dr Mohammad Faizuddin Faiz gave away the individual prizes. Former secretary of Hockey India and Secretary of Bihar Olympic Association Md Mushtaq Ahmed presented the trophy to the winning team Muzaffarpur. Hockey Muzaffarpur secretary Ajgar Hussain, Manoj Kumar (NIS coach), Achal Kumar, Rambali Kumar, Anuj Raj, Raju Kumar, Vikas Yadav, Shivesh Kumar, Gopi Kumar were present on the occasion. Achal Kumar presented the Rabbi Roshan Emerging Player of the Championship award to Subhit Kumar Tiwari.
