Management development programme on GST begins at TPS College in Patna

Patna, August 1: A management development programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) Compliance Management organised by Ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) , Government of India’s MSME development and facilitation office  (DFO) began at TPS College here. The programme will continue till August 5.

Presiding over the programme, TPS College principal Prof. Upendra Prasad Singh said that many types of misconceptions are being spread about GST while there are more benefits of GST as compared to the earlier structure. Through such programmes, students will get many useful information and they will be able to motivate more and more people in the society to file GST returns.

Pradeep Kumar, Director, MSME-DFO, Patna, who was the chief Guest at the program told the guests and students about the benefits of GST. He informed about simple tax system, reduction in prices of goods and services, uniform price across the country, transparency in taxation system, increase in employment opportunities etc.

Abhinav Kumar Jha said that digital payment is very important and appealed to the participants to go for cashless transactions. While addressing the participants, assistant director MSME-DFO, Patna, Sanjeev Azad said that the level of awareness has not yet reached the satisfactory level. He said that meticulous planning, detailed preparation, community participation and extensive public awareness programmes would help in the implementation of GST.

Assistant Director MSME-DFO, Patna Ravikant said that the GST system is basically structured to simplify the current indirect tax system in India which will reduce the present burden of compliance.

Earlier in her welcome address, Dr. Jyotsna Kumari, head, department of zoology, said that since the implementation of the GST regime, the pros and cons of GST implementation have been widely debated and various parties including academia, business and general public and the topic has attracted significant attention. Even professionals in the Indian financial system are facing problems of clarity in the concepts of GST. Hence it is the need of the hour to conduct a study on public awareness, knowledge and understanding about GST in India. Hence the need of the hour is to create awareness among the public about the implementation of GST, she said.

During the five day programme, eminent faculty will present their research papers on topic related to GST. The vote of thanks in the programme was proposed by Dr Jyotsna Kumar. Dr. Shyamal Kishore, Krishnanandan Prasad, Dr. Abu Bakr Rizvi, Dr. Javed Akhtar Khan, Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, Dr. Roopam, Dr. Shivam Yadav, Dr. Hemlata, Dr. Prashant Kumar, Dr. Mukund Kumar, Dr. Dr. Nutan, Dr. Navendu Shekhar, Dr. Usha Kiran, Dr. Anjali Prasad, Dr. Deepika, Dr. Shashi Prabha Dubey, Dr. Susobhan Paladhi, Dr. Vinay Bhushan, Dr. Shashibhushan Chaudhary, Dr. Tanuja, Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Mr. Kumar Amitabh, Mr. Ambareesh, Mr. Avneet, Mr. Shyam Babu Sharma etc. were present on the occasion.
