Prayagraj: The Yogi government is focused on making the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025 a historic event, with particular attention being given to the roads leading to Prayagraj city. Following the instructions of CM Yogi, both the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) have commenced work to improve and beautify the roads connecting the highways to the city.

During Mahakumbh 2025, crores of devotees from across the country and the world will travel to Prayagraj by road. They will be welcomed by wide roads, multilingual signboards, greenery, and artwork displayed along the way. In addition, all essential facilities will be available near the toll plazas to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the visitors.
On Wednesday, NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav conducted a review of ongoing projects with Principal Secretary of Urban Development, Amrit Abhijat, and Principal Secretary of PWD, Ajay Chauhan, at the Prayagraj Mela Authority auditorium. During the meeting, Yadav emphasized that Mahakumbh 2025 is a historic event, and the roads should not only be constructed but also be aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained.
He instructed that as many signboards as possible be installed along all roads connecting to Prayagraj, along with safety inspectors to ensure smooth traffic flow. Additionally, beautification work, including paintings, lighting, and the installation of cameras, should be carried out.
He further emphaized that as crores of devotees will be visiting for the Maha Kumbh, the roads should be designed in a way that their appearance uplifts the spirit of the devotees. He noted that this is an excellent opportunity to showcase the government’s work to the world. He instructed officials to ensure the installation of Cat’s Eyes where necessary, add flowering at entry points, and apply paintings on dividers to help visibility during foggy weather.
Additionally, he asked for a review and improvement of the road lighting along National Highways. He also emphasized the need to highlight the NHAI control room number and promote awareness of the NHAI Highway Yatra App to assist travelers in having a smooth journey.
Regarding the toll plazas, the NHAI Chairman emphasized that the toll plazas on the way to the Kumbh should be closely monitored to ensure a positive experience for travelers. He instructed that the toll plazas should not only be well-maintained but also visually appealing. The facilities at these plazas should be streamlined, with clean toilets and properly trained staff who are prepared to handle all situations.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that employees work in three shifts to maintain smooth operations. Additionally, he highlighted the need for an adequate number of ambulances to be stationed, along with incident vehicles, to handle any emergencies during the event.
During this, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand, DM Ravindra Kumar Mandhad, SSP Kumbh Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi and other officers were present.
