Bhagalpur: A land dealer was shot dead by unidentified criminals last evening in Kutubganj area of city under Babarganj Police Station (PS). The victim has been identified as Amrendra Kumar Singh (48).
The major criminal incident comes close on the heels of murder of a silk businessman in Nathnagar area nearly a week ago.
The land dealer who was way back home on his bike after meeting a person was gunned down close to his residence.
As per information criminals who came walking fired four rounds on the victim after intercepting him. The grievously injured victim was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.
Ths son of victim Manas said his father was killed in enemity. He alleged people involved in murder of his father had indulged in firing at his house in past.
They had lodged complaint about the past incident with police. However, no strong action was taken against the criminals. The son of victim has named one Karku Yadav beside few others as culprits involved in crime.
Following the incident Swarn Prabhat beside others senior officials visited the place of occurence.
Meanwhile in connection with recent murder of silk businessman Md Afzal police has arrested Sahrukh one of the culprits involved in murder.
At a press conference last evening SSP Babu Ram said the family members of Md Afzal had named one Irshad in FIR lodged in connection with murder of victim.
A special police team constituted for arresting culprits nabbed Sahrukh after scanning CCTV footage SSP informed adding the arrested criminal had come out of jail recently.
He said the arrested criminal has confessed his crime in interrogation. SSP added Sahrukh has stated he was given supari (contract) for killing the victim.
Total four persons including Irshad was involved in chalking out murder plan of Md Afzal, SSP informed. He added land dispute was reason behind murder.
