Patna: In the girls’ category of the 15th Dhyanchand Memorial Ball Badminton Tournament, held at the Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan court, Patna, and organised under the aegis of Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan with technical support from the Bihar Ball Badminton Association, the teams from Kilkari and PN Anglo School (Pool A) and Ravindra Balika Vidyalaya and Gardanibagh Balika Vidyalaya (Pool B) advanced to the semi-finals.
In a crucial Pool A league match on the second day, Kilkari defeated Adarsh Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya, Yarpur, with scores of 35-21 and 35-18, while PN Anglo School overcame MHS School with a commanding 35-08, 35-10 victory. Ravindra Balika Vidyalaya edged out Gardanibagh Balika Vidyalaya in a hard-fought match with scores of 26-35, 35-20, 35-30. Additionally, Gardanibagh Balika Vidyalaya secured a win against Bapu Smarak Balika Vidyalaya with scores of 35-26, 35-24.
Notable performances were observed from Muskan, Divya, and Khushi of Kilkari; Rajnandini, Kajal, and Kanchan of PN Anglo School; Mansi, Naina, and Ananya of Ravindra Balika Vidyalaya; and Saloni, Ananya, and Sushma of Gardanibagh Balika Vidyalaya.
Earlier, the second day of this five-day tournament, organised as part of the Sports Day programme, was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association, Gouri Shankar, along with Joint Secretary Mitali Mitra, Rakesh Ranjan, and District Secretary Dr Arun Dayal, following an introduction to the players. Senior national player Deepak Prakash Ranjan, along with Kilkari’s coach Rahul Kumar and Adarsh Kumar, were also present on the occasion.
