Kerala Crush Bihar by an Innings and 169 Runs in Ranji Trophy Clash

Patna: Bihar suffered a crushing defeat against Kerala, losing by an innings and 169 runs in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group match at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. Bihar’s batting line-up struggled throughout the match, failing to make an impact in both innings.

Kerala posted a formidable total of 351 runs in 101.2 overs in their first innings. Salman Nizar was the standout performer, scoring a commanding 150 runs, while Shaun Roger contributed 59, Akash Chandran added 38, and Nidhish MD chipped in with 30. Despite limited contributions from other batsmen, Kerala managed to reach a strong total.

Bihar’s bowlers put in a disciplined effort, taking wickets at regular intervals. Sachin Kumar, Ghulam Rabbani, and Harsh Vikram picked up two wickets each, while Veer Pratap Singh, Abhishek, S Gani, and YP Yadav claimed one wicket apiece.

However, Bihar’s batting faltered badly. In the first innings, they were bowled out for just 64 runs, with Shraman Nigrodh (21), Ayush Lohruka (13), and Ghulam Rabbani (10) being the only double-digit scorers. The second innings saw another poor batting display, though S Gani (31) and Veer Pratap Singh (30) showed some resistance. Bihar were eventually dismissed for 118, resulting in a heavy innings defeat.

Kerala’s bowlers dominated the match, with Jalaj Saxena taking five wickets in each innings, maintaining constant pressure on the Bihar batsmen. Nidhish MD picked up two wickets in the first innings and one in the second, while other bowlers maintained accurate line and length, restricting Bihar’s scoring opportunities. Kerala secured a comprehensive victory by an innings and 169 runs.
