Katihar Outplay Kaimur by 29 Runs to Enter Semi-Finals of BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy

Patna: In the second quarter-final of the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy tournament held at the Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna, Katihar emerged victorious against Kaimur by 29 runs, securing their place in the semi-finals. Katihar’s batsmen delivered a strong performance, posting a formidable total that proved too challenging for Kaimur to chase.

Batting first, Katihar set a commanding total of 305 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Ashwini Kumar was the standout performer, scoring a brilliant 99 runs off 118 balls, including 11 fours. Khalid Alam contributed a brisk 61 runs from 57 balls, featuring 5 fours and a six, while Ankit Singh added 52 runs off 60 balls, with 8 fours. In the latter stages of the innings, Abhishek Kumar provided a quickfire 31 runs off just 18 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Suraj Kumar chipped in with 23 runs, while Mayank Pamnani (9 runs), Hazrat Ali (12 not out), and Ayush Kumar (4 not out) also made valuable contributions.

For Kaimur, captain Vikas Kumar Patel was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 60 runs in his 10 overs. Dhanesh and Nishant Kumar also took a wicket each.

In response, Kaimur were bowled out for 276 runs in 47.3 overs, falling short of the target. Shashank Sanjay Upadhyay was the star for Kaimur, scoring a magnificent 121 runs off 90 balls, including 17 fours and 3 sixes. Anubhav Jaiprakash added 43 runs, while Gupil Parmanand Rai contributed 42 runs. Despite their efforts, the rest of the batting line-up struggled to build significant partnerships, with Vikas Kumar Patel (17 runs), Satyam Singh Yadav (10 runs), Aditya Anand Singh (10 runs), Raju Kumar Sharma (10 runs), and Nishant Kumar Singh (8 runs) all failing to make a substantial impact.

Katihar’s bowlers put in a disciplined performance, with Harsh Nandan, Khalid Alam, and Ashwini Kumar each taking two wickets. Peter Mardi also claimed a wicket to help seal the victory.
