Patna: The Bihar State Under 7 Chess Championship, organized by the All Bihar Chess Association at the Bihar School of Chess in Pataliputra Sports Complex, concluded today with Kartikeya Kumar of Patna and Vanshika Maheshwari emerging as champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively.
In the boys’ category, Kartikeya Kumar dominated the final round, winning against Aarush Kumar and Krishna to secure a total of six points, clinching the championship title. Vishnu Vaibhav from Begusarai achieved the runner-up position with five points after defeating Aarush Kumar in a decisive match.
The girls’ category witnessed an exciting finish, with top-seeded Vanshika Maheshwari losing to Swastika Singh of Khagaria. However, Vanshika’s previous performance secured her four points, tying with Swastika and Kiara Golecha of Purnia. Based on tie-break points, Vanshika was declared the winner, with Swastika and Kiara taking the runner-up and third places respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony featured All Bihar Chess Association President Diljeet Khanna as the chief guest and Senior Vice President Rajendra Kumar as the special guest, who presented trophies and certificates to the winners. The event was also attended by Joint Secretary Nandkishore, Vipal Subhash, Shashi Nand Kumar, senior player Sameer Kumar, Bihar School of Chess coach Ved Prakash, Alok Priyadarshi, and Priyanka Kumari.
